FAQs
Repairs
What types of glasses frame repairs do you offer?
We assess many prescription glasses, sunglasses and designer frames made from materials including metal, plastic, acetate and some titanium. Common repairs include broken hinges, snapped or bent temples or sides, damaged frame fronts, broken bridges, nose-pad arms and complete frame refurbishment. Whether a repair is possible depends on the material, location of the damage, condition of the surrounding frame and any previous repair attempts. Send us clear photographs for an initial assessment.
Can you fix a snapped frame?
Many snapped frames can be professionally repaired, including damage to the bridge, frame front, arms and some hinge areas. The appropriate method depends on the frame material and the position of the break. We will explain the likely strength and appearance of the repair before work begins, as some repaired areas may remain visible.
Who will be repairing my frame?
Our workshop is currently run by an experienced frame repair technician. Each pair is assessed individually before a repair is recommended.
Can you restore faded or discoloured frames?
Frames can lose their shine after prolonged exposure to skin oils, cleaning products and everyday wear. Some plastic and acetate frames can be professionally cleaned, reconditioned and polished, depending on their material and condition. Send us photographs so we can assess whether refurbishment is suitable.
Can you polish scratches out of lenses?
Unfortunately, scratches generally cannot be safely polished out of prescription lenses. Polishing removes material and may alter the optical surface or damage the lens coatings. Frame repair will not improve existing lens scratches.
How long is your repair guaranteed for?
Repair My Specs provides a six-month workmanship guarantee covering the specific area repaired. It does not cover new accidental damage, misuse, normal wear, material deterioration or failure elsewhere on the frame. This guarantee is additional to your statutory consumer rights.
Can you repair designer glasses and discontinued frames?
We can assess many designer, vintage and discontinued frames. Repair can be particularly worthwhile when a frame fits well, has sentimental value or is no longer available to purchase. Whether it can be repaired depends on its material, condition, location of the damage and any previous repair attempts. Replacement components may not be made by the original manufacturer or provide an exact match, and we will explain any important limitations before you approve the repair.
Is it worth repairing glasses instead of replacing them?
Repairing your glasses may be worthwhile when the frame remains in good overall condition, fits comfortably or would be difficult or expensive to replace. It can extend the useful life of the frame and may cost less than buying a comparable new pair. However, repair may not be suitable if the material is severely brittle, several areas are damaged or the lenses also need replacing. We will give you an honest assessment before asking you to send the frame.
Can a broken glasses hinge be repaired?
Many broken or detached glasses hinges can be repaired. Depending on the damage, the work may involve precision soldering, repairing the surrounding frame or extracting and replacing the hinge. A loose screw is different from a broken hinge component, so clear close-up photographs will help us identify the likely repair. The final repair method and price are confirmed after physical inspection.

Standard tracked delivery normally includes tracking and a photograph at the delivery point. A signature may not be required. Royal Mail Special Delivery includes a signature on delivery and is recommended for more valuable frames.
Do you notify me when my frame arrives at the workshop?
Yes, we will email you when your frame arrives safely at the workshop.
What should I do if my repair hasn’t arrived yet?
When your repaired glasses are dispatched, we will email you the Royal Mail tracking number and tracking link. Check the tracking information first. If the parcel appears significantly delayed, lost or damaged, contact us so we can investigate it with Royal Mail.
How long does a glasses-frame repair take?
Many straightforward frame repairs can be completed and prepared for return within one working day after you approve the final quote, provided the required parts are available. More complex repairs or work requiring replacement parts may take up to two weeks. We will provide an estimated timescale after physically inspecting your glasses. Postal delivery time is additional.
Pricing & Payment
When do I pay?
You pay for the repair after the agreed work has been completed. We will email you an invoice and secure payment link. Your repaired glasses will be dispatched once payment has been received.
Which payment methods do you accept?
We accept major credit and debit cards, including Mastercard, Visa and American Express.
Can my initial quote change after you inspect my glasses?
Yes. An initial quote based on photographs is an estimate because photographs may not show hidden damage, previous repairs, corrosion or brittle material. After physically inspecting your glasses, we will confirm the proposed repair and final price. We will not begin work until you approve the final quote.
Refunds & Cancellations
Can I cancel my repair?
You may cancel before authorising the final repair quote. Once you accept the final quote, you normally have a 14-day cancellation period. If you ask us to begin during that period and then cancel after work has started, you may need to pay a reasonable amount for the work already completed. If the agreed service is fully completed following your express request, your cancellation right may end. Please see our Repair Terms and Cancellation Policy for full details.
